Travellers – whether on foot or by bike or even in a coach – haven’t properly explored the castles of the Rhine and Moselle region without seeing the Ehrenburg. Very close to all the big tourist fortifications the Ehrenburg has retained all of its uniqueness high up on a rocky outcrop above the dense Hunsrück Forest.

The key to our gate is your key to the Middle Ages. Beyond the entrance tower a day of exciting stories and surprising encounters awaits. Whether you make the intrepid climb up to the castle from the River Moselle through leafy deciduous forest or ‘storm’ the walls at a more leisurely pace from the adjacent coach park, when you step under the castle gate tower you step back in time.

Horns are blown and the lord of the castle himself invites his guests to take a refreshing welcome sip of drink on their arrival. Knowledge, hospitality and jokes are shared as you embark upon an adventurous round of the castle. Our unusual journey takes you on a castle tour with a difference to towers and bastions and through chambers and vaults.

After learning so much about castle life, it’s time for some sustenance. At the lord’s buffet in the festively decorated great hall time travellers can still their hunger pangs with crispy chicken drumsticks from the grill or choice cuts of the domestic pig.
