Information on the Ehrenburg

The Ehrenburg opens its gates to visitors daily from the start of spring to November 1 as follows:

Mondays to Saturdays: 11 am to 5 pm

Sunday and public holidays: 11 am to 5 pm

The castle café and restaurant are also open 12.00 pm. Our Ehrenburg maidservants will serve you hot and cold drinks and our master cook prepares delicious fresh sweet and savoury delights for our guests every single day.

Outside our official opening times the Ehrenburg can only be visited by prior arrangement.

The Ehrenburg is available for private functions at all times and the castle hotel is also open throughout the year.

Our friendly office staff are at your service Mondays to Fridays from 9 am to 4 pm.

Family ticket (parents and up to two children): €19

One person per group of ten has free entry.

Members of the Friends of the Ehrenburg and our neighbours* have free entry to these events. (*From Brodenbach, Kröpplingen, Stabenhof, Oppenhausen, Herschwiesen, Windhausen and Hübingen.)

Entrance to our cultural evening events costs €12 (€10 for Friends).

All proceeds from our entrance fees go directly towards the upkeep and protection of the mediaeval castle.

From the Hunsrück (A61 and B327)
Take the A61 motorway from Ludwigshafen to Cologne and exit at Boppard. Turn right onto the B327 (Hunsrückhöhenstraße). After 800 m take the left exit at the roundabout in Buchholz towards Brodenbach/Ehrenburg (this is the first exit on the right when coming from Koblenz).  Follow this road for 6.5 km and then take the entrance to the Ehrenburg on the left.
 
From the River Moselle
In Brodenbach turn onto the K72 and drive up Postberg, following the hairpin bends up the hill. After 5 km the entrance to the Ehrenburg is on the right.

Please note: the K72 is only suitable for cars/vans with a maximum height of 2.5 m and a length of up to 6 m!

Pony trekking

If you fancy exploring the countryside on horseback, Grenzenlos Wanderreiten has plenty to offer in the way of pony trekking. The Ehrenberg Sternritte or star rides, for example, not only include daily forays out into the countryside but also an unforgettable stay at the Ehrenburg for several days.

Leisure activities

A good hike, an exciting geocache, suspense on the local via ferrata or a gentle ride atop a horse are all perfect for a weekend in the great outdoors. Further information is available from the tourist information centre in Alken: www.sonnige-untermosel.de One particularly scenic hike takes you right up to the gates of the Ehrenburg: the Ehrenburg Mountain Canyon Trail.
